the trevor project

This campaign began as a low-budget campaign for a nonprofit I felt connected to, but quickly grew into something beyond a simple campaign. The Trevor Project is an organization committed to suicide prevention among young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. This topic, while often difficult to discuss, is one I have struggled with in the past, so it only felt natural to shine a light on it and support the Trevor Project in the process. According to the Trevor Project, the second leasing cause of death among people aged 18-24 is suicide, with LGBTQ+ youth being four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers; however, one supportive adult can reduce this risk by up to 40%.

The goals of this campaign were not only to bring awareness to the increased risk of suicide among LGBTQ+ youth, but also to encourage the audience to reach out in support of any young queer people in their lives. It may be an uncomfortable conversation to some, but it’s even more uncomfortable to leave LGBTQ+ kids in turmoil.
